Al Firestone has been working as a musician for his entire adult life (and some of high school too!). He has played in several secular pop, rock and wedding bands and still plays a few of those gigs each year. Now his focus is mainly on Christian music, as he leads contemporary worship services at his church.
All of the songs on Oh, Praise His Name! an album of worship were written for worship services at our church. You may notice that his songs have more lyrics than traditional praise choruses. In that, they are more like hymns set to modern beats. You may also notice that there is no particular one style that this album fits into. Two of the songs ("Lord, Reign in Me" and "Power and Love") have latin beats. Some are ballads. One sounds like a song from the 80s. One is a rock song. Some sound a little bit country. What they all have in common is their worship theme.
