Musician-Singer-Songwriter, Ron WineRich, a native Californian, was a drummer hack on the L.A. music scene since the 1980s, recording and showcasing with Mental Block Party and others. But one day in the early 1990''s, a strong wind blew him and his lovely wife to the Mid-Atlantic/Eastern Seaboard region, where they pitched their wig-wam. ''Twas there that Ron, emerging as a capable guitar and piano player and songwriter, became a founding member of the SkyDaddies, and later, The Combinations. His understated vocal style and versatile guitar and piano work distinguish him as a musician who can color outside the lines yet still bring the soul-searing delivery that can, at least momentarily, stop coyotes from howling at the moon.
The Sins of the Son is Ron’s first release as a solo artist. The album is as much a musical book of short stories as it is an album of songs. The thirteen songs are firmly rooted in rock music. They evoke a compelling range of emotion, from the tender and sublime “Honey Love” to the searing “A Thousand Camels.” The melodies are haunting and evocative. The lyrics embrace possession, love and release, hope and regret, and the pain and promise of life. The title track, “The Sins of the Son,” is a roadhouse romp with bluesy slide guitar and existential, taunting lyrics.
