Details:
In 2007, Air It Out Music recording artist, Ruel, released "Ruel Wit An Iron Fist" to hardcore hip hop fans across the web. The album received critical acclaim from music blog sites, and social networks alike crowning Ruel the next big thing in hardcore hip hop music. Fast forward to 2008, and the Rockland County, NY prodigy is at it again with his sophomore offering "The Ruel Book".

To describe it simply, this album is an "autobiography put to beats", and it is as entertaining as it is menacing. The beat selection is solid, and the lyrical content is raw yet poetic in a Quinten Tarrantino sort of way. Beginning with the song "Prologue", Ruel, delivers a narrative jewel detailing his humble ways with lines like "I don''t trap rap/or clap weapons/doesn''t mean that I haven''t or can''t/I''m just grown and rather lamp" But doesn''t fail to reveal his dark side following up with lines like "But dudes try to play me/like games in a camp/to find out they''re in Crystal Lake/and they don''t stand a chance." This consistency is kept throughout the entire 17 track LP. Ruel fires a barrage of different subjects that everyday people can relate to like betrayal on "Friends", culture on "Made In DR", personal loss on "Just Try", and reinvention on tracks like "Change" and "Let Go and Let God".

But the album''s most bone chilling moment occurs when the song "School Shooting" starts playing. Ruel, must of ignored the fact that protesters and lobbyist alike salivate at the thought of a "rapper" nonetheless speaking on a subject so sensitive. The song describes the mentality of a troubled teen that is hell bent on gaining his respect in school from his antagonist. The teen''s final solution to his problems is resulting to violence with a hand gun. As touchy as this subject may be for some, Ruel, definitely has a method to his madness. He described the record in a separate interview as "Using a poison to get rid of another poison".

Overall, this album is definitely a must have for anyone that appreciates good hip hop music. So, if you''ve been seeking a change of pace in music then this is the album for you. But don''t take our word for it, hear the "Change" for yourself.
