The Young Relics met in the early 1990''s but started their band over a decade later in June 2006. Austin, TX was the backdrop and likely influenced their sound which might be described as classic rock with a present day folk twist. That all makes sense when you think about the name of their band.
The quartet is fronted by lead vocalist Mel Parekh and his brother Neil Parekh on guitar. The rhythm section is built around Akash Sharma on bass guitar and Evan Spaulding on drums. All four are long time friends. “Having your brother and best friends in the band makes life good” says Mel Parekh. It also leads to great chemistry and a unique sound, which can be heard throughout the album.
March 1, 2009, marks the official release of their first CD. Take a chance and get in on the ground floor of something new from a bunch of young relics.
