It''s a safe bet that the Beat Preachers have never spent any time at the Parchman Farm and I doubt that they ever dealt with the Devil down at the Crossroads, although their sound is as gritty as any dirt road in the Mississippi Delta. This is old school. You might say an old school power duo. The Blues is their fundamental philosophy. Please suspend your definition of the Blues; think Bombast. This is a sound and belief that has become ingrained in our culture. The Preachers take a hide and seek approach to their sound and this would explain why the rest of us always seem to be a few drinks behind.
Their sound has been dubbed *Knife Fight Blues. Some will simply dismiss it as the new race music while others feel it''s a new genre - Bombastic Blues. The truth is somewhere in between.
