MP3 Bruce Harvie - The Trailer Tapes

An eclectic multi-instrumental gumbo of modern psycadelia...

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Psychedelic, ROCK: Progressive Rock

Details:
The Trailer Tapes was recorded in a 1952 Spartan Mansion trailer, using as many funky compressors and microphones as I could find...

"Invocation" opens the show with the sounds of a discarded piano carcass recorded at the Orcas Island dump, augmented with the mando-banjo of Don MacGillivray...

"What''s This Thing With Men and Drums" is inspired by the late Karen Carpenter. I saw here play drums early in here career, and she rocked believe it or not. Plus, she sang and chewed sunflower seeds all at the same time.

"Everyone Glows in the Dark in Slow Motion" combines a swing beat with a 70''s guitar riff, augmented with stream-of-consciousness lyrics ala the 60''s. This one is really fun to play live...

"Stones and Blood" is music to drive through an English fog by, preferably alone at 3 a.m., tired, in a Jaguar XKE....

"Clint''s Blues" is a little interlude played on a stolen banjo...

"Leave Me Alone or I''ll Find Someone Who Will" was inspired by the glorious out-of-tune cacophony of the infamous Friday night Trainwreck jam on Orcas Island. I recorded this initially with a "good" mandolin in tune. It wasn''t until I tried a "bad" mandolin out-of-tune that it came to life. Recorded entirely with old RCA ribbon mics and Ampex tube mic preamps--I need all the authenticity I can get...

"Slave to Fashion" More white lies are told on long distance airplane flights than anywhere else I can think of. None of this is true...

"The Other Guy''s Way" I have a huge "no whining" sign in my studio that I took down when I did this one. The first verse refers to my day job--I cut up large spruce and maple trees, put the pieces into little boxes, and ship them all the the world to be made into violins...

"Bellingham Boyz" is about all da guys in Bellingham, Washington...
Again, none of this is true...

"I Believe" is a love song...

"I Never Saw U" was an attempt to copy the production on early Byrd''s recordings...

Enjoy the gumbo!
Bruce
