You know what?! I don’t want a traditional Bio so I’ll just tell you what I think you may be interested in knowing. BACKGROUND
I’ve been singing and writing professionally for about 9 years. I love what I do. I learned to sing after joining the church choir at the ago of four. I was able to enhance my skills after attending the Detroit High school for the Fine and Performing Arts. I was signed to Blackground Records briefly.
I’ve worked with many producers from Red Spyda, Corey Rooney, Al West, JD Steel, Static, Face, Horsemen. One producer in particular has been part of my journey for all 9 years. Red Spyda most famous for his work with 50cent and DJ Whoo Kid gave me a sound that you will hear on songs like “Voice Message”, Now that UR here”, and “ I think I”. His infectious guitar and bass sounds are the heart and soul of my album.
THE WRITER
A lot of people ask about my writings. I wrote and arranged all the songs on the album. Some are from my life experiences and some songs are just the use of my imagination. I write everything from R&B to Pop. It is my goal to do a lot of writing for other artist as I am truly a person that loves to be behind the scenes and apart of the creative process.
WHY JOY&PAIN
Ever since I was little people would sing “Joy and Pain” (by Frankie Beverly and Maze) as they would walk by me in the school halls or down the street. About seven years ago, Red and I were discussing how much thought I had put into being a serious artist. As a test he asked if I already new the name of my first album. The first thing that came to mind was “Joy & Pain”. It wasn’t until years later I realized the significance of the title. It is self explanatory. Life is full of Joy and Pain and that is apparent through my writings.
WHAT I’M MADE OF
I am straight out of Detroit. Anyone that knows about Detroit knows exactly what I am implying by this statement. I grew up in a big family. My mother taught us to be strong and believe we could do anything!!! I have held and adopted this attitude my entire life. My oldest brother was a huge influence in my introduction to music. This music thing is addictive and I can’t give it up.
PURPOSE
As with most true artists I create because it is therapeutic and fun. Some people take medication, some people eat comfort foods, or leave the TV on at night to cope. I write words and create melodies to keep my sanity. Aside from the personal satisfaction, people need music to heal the soul.
NOW
I reside in the D.C. area. You can catch me rocking out with a band at a local spot but don’t be surprised if you see me in your city. I’m moving from city to city promoting and working on radio air play.
