Details:
Dreamin'' Again is a "true-blue" solo album by Carlin Mueller. He wrote all of the music and lyrics, played all of the instruments, sang all of the tracks, recorded, produced, and mastered the album in his home studio.

Filled with genuinely inspired songwriting, catchy guitar riffs and hooks, interesting lyrics and harmonies, solid beats, and a variety of song style flavors, Dreamin'' Again is truly an enjoyable listening experience.

Dreamin'' Again- The stories behind the songs:

1. Dreamin'' Again. It was a rainy night, with characteristic Midwest summer thunderstorms, and I was thinking and drinking (and vice versa), and generally being very contemplative. I would take a little nap on the couch, wake up for a while, have another drink, repeat, and so on. About 2 or 3am, feeling well rested and properly inspired, this song was written and recorded. I kept hoping that the thunderstorms would not kick the power out and wipe out the recent tracks on my Roland 16-Track machine before I could hit the SAVE button......

2. One and Only. After close to 20 hours straight working in a steel mill in the rust belt, too tired to sleep and on my "second wind", this song was born. For the muted guitar part during the verses, I was after a "Tragically Hip" type of sound and groove. The lyrics are just a play on the old Jack and Jill nursery rhyme, with the introduction of Jane. Jack and Jill and Jane: a perfect love triangle except Jill is jealous, Jane moves out, Jack self-medicates, and Jill and Jane end up together, minus Jack.

3. California Sun. After 18 years in the Chicago Metro area, I moved to Southern California, yes with my wife and Chihuahua and Weiner dog just like thy lyrics say. The weather, landscape, people, and everything about California is truly beautiful. I should have moved here 20 years ago. This song has the most "pop" feel of the songs on the album, perhaps a Jimmy Buffet meets The Eagles feel. As I have asked all of my friends to pick their two favorite songs on the album, this track and track 8 were mentioned most often.

4. Four More Miles. When I turned 36, it occurred to me that I had spent 18 years in Rural Nowhere Southern Illinois by birth (certainly not by choice), and 18 years mostly in the Chicago area. Rural Illinois is probably like Rural Anywhere, USA. The small towns are about 4 miles apart in every direction, and there is virtually nothing to do, and scarce few people to do it with. I was an only child until I was 13, and to make matters worse, lived on a farm. This song is about the boredom and loneliness of my youth, and about the decisions we can all make to create greater happiness in our lives. I really did take my clothes and guitars to the Amtrak station in Centralia, Illinois when I moved to Chicago when I was 18. And I never did look back..... Special thanks to the frogs and crickets for their contribution to the end of the song!

5. Greed. After graduating from college, working in the Steel Industry for 12 years, and working my way up to Operations Manager, I was completely disenchanted with corporate industry. I retired mid-career (resigned) to run my recording studio, perform live, and occasionally DJ weddings to make ends meet. Unfortunately, the career decision to pursue my musical interests did not pay nearly as well as being a professional in industry, so this song is about me "selling out" for money as I went back to work in industry. This tune has a country-rock feel in contrast to the other songs on the album.

6. Floating Away. A mood music love song about being so overwhelmingly in love that you "float away" emotionally. Did you ever loose your breath when you kiss someone or look into their eyes?

7. Every Second, Every Minute. Another love song inspired by the longing to spend more time with your lover than is possible for whatever reason. I had recently seen The Mighty Bosstones and wanted to write a song with a kind of Ska-Calypso feel.

8. Too Good To Be True. A song about the night I met my current wife, the love of my life. I was playing and singing at a local bar and I saw her sitting by herself. She wasn''t looking at her watch or watching the door for a friend, which is usually the case when there is a beautiful woman by herself at a bar. She looked sad, so I decided to take a break and offer to buy her a drink.....Six years later (and counting), we''re still happily married. And they say you can''t meet quality people in bars.....HA!

9. Mailman, Mailman. I had been working on "Every Breath You Take" with my voice coach, which is obviously about a stalker. Somewhere in that general timeframe, another Postal Worker went on a murderous rampage. This song is about a Mailman stalking a woman on his postal route.

10. Countdown. The lyrics really do not mean or pertain to anything. The song started out as a bass line, ala Joe Pass. I added the main guitar riff, drums, and harmony guitar part and worked it into a song.
