Details:
The E.D.S. is an up and coming organic hip-hop artist out of Portland, Oregon. Organic in the sense that almost all of the recordings on “Natural Disaster” are live instruments, not samples. “Natural Disaster” is his first album, released March 1, 2009. Important musical history about Everett Dickey-Strycker includes 12 years of private study as well as performance experience on the piano. This classical upbringing lead to two years of music theory study, as well as aural skills (ear training) at Southern Oregon University. The E.D.S. started writing lyrics in early 2007 as a freshman in college. In fact, some of the material included in “Natural Disaster” is derived from those very ideas and concepts. Everett composed and arranged “Natural Disaster” with the help of Tom Graham (drums), Chris Carter (guitar/bass), Amity and Royal1 – Fairweather Associates (rapping), DJ King Cole (scratching), Richard Strycker (flute), and Robert Clarke (guitar/bass/saxophone). Everett is currently studying Audio Design and Production at Columbia College in Chicago. He plans to work in a recording studio or even in live sound. Perhaps he’ll even one day fulfill his dream of owning and operating his own studio and/or nightclub. Only the future can know. And if you thought the initial quake of the craziest “Natural Disaster” to ever walk the earth was shocking, just wait until the “Aftershock” hits.
