Craig O''Manion on making this recording

"I remember this as being one of those happy coincidences that you think are almost creepy at the time. There are always a lot of things happening, not just during a day, but during an actual vocal session that take a singer, in this case I also wrote it, further from the lyric than they would like. It''s hard to stay focused not only on your interpretation of the moment of the lyric is but also whatever phrasing maybe had been worked out that was good but not written down. There is a lot to think about.

There is a lyric at the front of the song that says "I slowly walk down all the streets within my mind and I wonder where you live". The first thing I think about on this is some kind of mental, I don''t know, traveling. And I think that would be really hard to do.

Meanwhile something else was going on in the studio and for some reason I had to punch in during the vocal track and replace a line for the engineer. This means that while the tape is running the engineer hits a button that goes back into record on the vocal track and you pick up where you need to in order for it to be a continuous verse on the recording. But it was a tight punch in and leading up to it I said, thinking I was only talking to the engineer, that "this is going to be hard". He''d already punched in - so it went between the lines of the song onto the actual track!

When I heard it played back I thought it went so well with the thoughts I was having about traveling in your mind, or whatever the lyric meant to the listener, that I told him not to clean the track up by removing it. And it''s still there."

Rainbow Blvd.
(the single)

Lyrics to Rainbow Blvd. are below the song notes.

Is it a song about hippies in general, ''rainbow'' people, or more specifically Atlanta''s Little 5 Points (L5P) bohemian district? O''Manion once had punk girls living in his house, but that was long ago.

Maybe it''s just a psych-o-delic stroll through trippy-land with The Beavers ending with a slide guitar nod to the southern rock roots that give The Beavers that definate twang despite their Britpop flavor.

From the studio notes:

*Tracking and mixing engineer Nick Kaveli suggested the background vocal lines during the verses because he "heard them in his head" while O''Manion was recording the vocals. The Beavers went with the idea.

*The acoustic guitar in the background is actually all three of The Beavers sitting in a circle playing 3 acoustic guitars.

Engineered by Nick Kaveli

LYRICS TO RAINBOW BLVD.

Rainbow Blvd.

©2008,2009Ceatekgroup. Words & Music by Craig O''Manion Arrangement by The Beavers

I slowly walk down all the streets within my mind

and I wonder where you live

I know the answer - it can''t be far behind

I''ve got so much left to give

I know a rainbow when I see it

I know a good thing when I feel it

You''ve got to let go I can''t just steal it

If you don''t give I can''t reveal it

You move the deeper half you leave the rest behind

and I''m moving standing still

you deeply half the movement - I don''t think I mind

and I think I never will

I know a rainbow when I taste it

I know love when I''m naked

If you don''t let go I can''t take it

If you don''t give - we won''t make it

I slowly rise along the white hills as they churn

I take my time and turn the page

I take my turn I''ve never had to stand in line

but I''ve had to count the days

I know a rainbow when I taste her

I know a good thing when I feel it

I know love when I make it

If you don''t let go I can''t just take it

See all the children on Rainbow Blvd.

See all the children on Rainbow Blvd.

Oh, they''re trying they''re trying so hard.

See all the children on Rainbow Blvd.

Rainbow Blvd., Rainbow Blvd.

I see all the children on Rainbow Blvd.
