OK, I admit it. I have people tell me that I sound like Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon and, sometimes, Joan Baez.
It is a folk based music, but there are subtle-or sometimes not so subtle-influences in the songs, such as blues, jazz and light rock.
Hey, it''s just me and my guitar right now, so the music is soft.
For the romantic part of my music, I have both joyful songs and songs that grieve the loss of love. I have been there three times, and I hope that the fourth encounter will last until I go "home." Hey, it''s the old axium- when artists suffer, the beauty comes out in their artistry.
There are some songs about abuse, and I included them because there are a lot of folks out there who have been hurt and who also think that they are alone. Let me assure you- YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Weddings are my specialty, and I love to give a voice to a couple''s love, like I did in the song, "Keeper of the Heart, II." Jim and Alli talked about each other for three hours, and this song is what came of their love. They wrote the song- I just gave it a voice. It''s one of my favorites.
I do Gospel, as well, and before you think-"oh, brother!" Please know that it was the Person that saved my life from severe abuse and not religion. He is the sweetest Person I know. It''s the people who claim His Name I struggle with, sometimes. Seriously, guys, don''t judge the Father by His kids, even me. We are not doing too well when it comes to showing the world who He really is. But, thanks to my grandmother''s love and prayer, I am here to say that. In fact, this album is dedicated to Grandma Esther. Her song is "Kindred Spirit." I miss her a great deal. She''s with God and I can''t wait until God calls me home so that I can give Him-and everyone I love up there-a hug!
Well, even if I never sell any CD''s, I will go on singing. Singing is second only to breathing, and it drives me to perform, even when I am not at my best. What amazes me is that fact that no matter how I feel, unless my chin is dragging in the dirt, I can still sing. They tried to kill it, but it was God''s gift, not mine, so those who tried will have to answer to Him.
So, ladies and gents, I hope that this CD is something that touches your fancy and heals the secret places of your heart.
I just wanted to see what people thought of my music, so I could figure out whether what I should do differently, the same or nothing at all. This is the sample, and I hope you tell me the good or the bad. I can learn from the constructive critisms-I NEED to learn.
