Erik is a Philadelphia area based guitarist blending Jazz, Blues, and Rock influences. He has performed with numerous Jazz and Rock ensembles, and his band Roadrunner performed with Living Color.
Candlewood Blues is a collection of Blues and Jazz based guitar instumentals. Influences such as George Benson, Eric Clapton, BB King, and Stevie Ray Vaughn factor into these original works.
There are no vocals, because vocals are not needed in this music - the guitar does the "talking", all with style and arrangements that fit together well.
The players listed above are known for their playing. That''s because when it comes to this type of music, it''s the guitar that stands out. Candlewood Blues takes this one step further, and showcases the guitar in a way that is seldom heard, but sounds immediately comfortable and familiar.
"I have been pleasantly surprised at the wide acceptance of these new songs", states Erik. "People tell me how much they and even their kids like my music, from young kids dancing to it, to teens swiping their parents copy of the CD, to teachers playing the CD for her class. I wanted to write songs that just sound good, from the first time you hear them. I hope I have accomplished that with this CD."
