This CD is a work of love for my husband Eugene. We were about to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I wanted to give him a special gift to remember this occasion. I remembered my guitar teacher, Quanah Hicks, had asked me if I wouldn''t like to record a song sometime. What a perfect gift that would be for my husband!
So in October of 2003, I got together with Quanah and started recording secretly from my husband because this was to be a surprise. By June of 2004 I had 12 songs recorded including the songs I sang for our engagement in February of 1979 and our wedding in August of 1979. Now it was time to start the production process. With the help of Disc Makers, I was able to produce a professional CD and present it to my husband when we went out to celebrate our anniversary on August 6, 2004. He was surprised. He knew I was up to something but had no idea what it was. He showed the pictures on the CD to the waitresses and explained the story behind each picture. We will never forget our 25th wedding anniversary.
I have always loved to sing. My mother tells a story of when I had the mumps at 3 years old. She thought she wouldn''t hear any singing for a few days and she said so. But I sang through the mumps. I am not a singer by trade. I am a schoolteacher. But I still love to sing and I sing in church with the church choir and solos, for special occasions, and sometimes I get hired to sing for weddings.
My husband Eugene and I have 3 handsome sons that we are very proud of. We raised them on our family farm in upstate New York so they learned about working hard and life in a natural setting. They didn''t always appreciate the farm but it was a good place for them to grow up. All three of them graduated this past year. Matthew graduated with his masters'' degree in business. Andrew graduated with his bachelors'' degree in government and secondary education. Luke graduated from high school and is now studying in the university.
