Details:
JAH BENG was gripped by the powerful words and hypnotic rhythms of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Big Youth, Burning Spear, Culture and countless other stalwarts of the musical idiom known as the King''s music, Reggae. Born and raised in Trench-Town, Kingston, Jamaica.

As the songs of these legendary artists thundered from sound systems, the young JAHBENG would commit the words and melodies of his preferred tracks to paper and to his agile memory. He would then seek out the most remote place in his surroundings, and there he would sing faithfully. From those early attempts to mimic his unwitting mentors, the youth began to develop what would soon become a very mighty and soothing melodic voice, a prolific ability to pen original lyrics and a true love for the concepts of RASTAFARI. His philosophy of life and his devotion to music would serve him well as he migrated from the streets of Trench-Town to the Metropolis that is Toronto, Canada.

JAHBENG faced the new and challenging environment with poise and determination. An outlet for his creativity among his high-school peers he began honing his artistic skills on the local (Toronto) music scene. JAHBENG took the lead role (as singer, songwriter/lyricist and performer) in these entities. As the major creative force in the groups, JAHBENG led them to award winning performances and great recognition on the local music scene. Preparation soon combined with opportunity to enable JAHBENG to channel his greatly enhanced musical prowess into manifesting his long-held vision of following in the footsteps of his mentors. JAHBENG combined his skills with his knowledge and deeply held beliefs in pursuing this vision and destiny brought him together with the extremely talented bassist and songwriter/producer, Charles ''TOWER'' Sinclair. This collaboration resulted in the successful completion of JAHBENG''S debut CD entitled ''CRY FOR THE CHILDREN''. The Album features 13 potent tracks of timeless lyrics, earth-quaking rhythms, soothing background harmonies and JAHBENG''s powerful lead vocals.

JAHBENG was instantly recognized as major force on the scene and earned a 1998 JUNO award nomination for "Best Reggae Recording". He has attracted media attention and sold records in various parts of the world (including South Africa, Jamaica, the U.S.A., France, Germany, Canada etc). In addition to earning critical acclaim for his works, he has won many fans. He is a highly respected and sought after artist and has been invited to perform as the headliner at many venues and as the opening act for various Reggae heavyweights (such as Luciano, Sizzla, Anthony B., Buju Banton, Freddie Mcgregor, Maxi Priest etc).

JAHBENG has proven himself to be a charismatic, dedicated and extremely credible artist. He expresses a devotion to pushing himself and his musical genre to "higher heights". In following through on this commitment, he is poised to release his second Album entitled The River of Healing. This new album definitely delivers on JAHBENG''s promise to create ''relevant works of the highest quality'' and will certainly remind all of the depth, breadth and potency of the musical force that is JAHBENG.
