Details:
Once upon a time, in the suburban paradise of Forest Acres, Columbia, South Carolina, a young drummer was working in his front yard on a beautiful sunny day. Two young fellows of 13 and 14 years of age walked up to him and said, "Hey man, we''re musicians in a band and we are playing a gig at a party near here. It''s at so and so''s house on Friday. Come on over if you can and check it out." I was the fellow working in the yard and I said "ok".

This was the first meeting of a trio of musical friendship, three kindred spirits who would learn, live, play and find their souls in music together. Almost three years after that day in 1991 we formed this band. I, writing this, am Ryan Shah, the drummer who played on this recording from 1993. My two other friends were Zack Jones and James Perez. We formed a band called "June" in the Fall of 1993 and recorded this album called "Southern Voodoo". We had played together in other bands previous to this recording. We had two other trios. One was called "Grasshoppa" and the other was "The Gravity Trio" (if you say it real fast it almost sounds Italian).

James wrote the songs, or well the initial guitar riffs and lyrics. Zack and I put our own bass and drum parts to it of course.

We were all heavy into Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Nirvana at that time. I even had bought "Nevermind" just after it came out and it had the special ''hidden track'' on it. But then, some asshole stole it at a party that I had at my house. I hope that guy suffers a painful death.

I was 17 years old when I played on this recording. Zack was 16, and James was only 15 when he wrote all this great stuff. Also, he had been a terrific drummer until just one year before this recording and had never even touched a guitar. One year before this recording he decided that his ego was too large to be confined behind a drum set and that he had to be a front man. Well, I''d say he learned a lot of guitar pretty fast in just one freakin'' year.

Well that''s enough for now. I''ll probably edit this later.
If you dig Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith or Nirvana, you will like this very old recording of my very old band. Please remember that it is VERY OLD!

Thanks and lots of Love,
Ryan Shah
