J-Quil, (Tyrone Broderick Hunter) a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina started singing at the age of 7 years old. He was one scorpio that had the motivation to learn vocal skills on his own by listening to soulful greats, such as Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Bobby Womack and more recently D''Angelo. J-Quil''s style is similar to the rough style of Jodeci smoothed over by the crooning feel of Marvin Gaye. He has been praised by the likes of KRS1, 9th Wonder, Spectac, Krisis, and major contract negotiator Wendy Day. J-Quil''s vocal sound has been said to be similar to Sisqo, Dave Hollister and Anthony Hamilton. He has performed at various night clubs around the Raleigh-Durham, Chapel Hill, and Fayetteville, NC areas. He has also made appearances in VA and SC as well. J-Quil always had the desire to be a great artist and entertainer. After listening to his music you can see that he puts his heart and soul into what he enjoys. That is making good music.
