When you take a variety of musical styles and douse them in the blues, you get rock n’ roll. The Fireseeds present this genre in its purest form. With an ever-growing repertoire of over thirty original songs, the band has been able to captivate their audience with new songs that the listener feels they have somehow always known. “Seeing a great rock n’ roll show is a catharsis,” reflects the Fireseeds’ drummer Terrence Katerynych, ‘You come out feeling a sense of release.” Performing live, the band’s feel for tension and release is apparent from the moment you hear the first song. In fact, some of the hooks dig so deep that you may find yourself singing along by the time the chorus comes around again! The Fireseeds deliver a high-energy show that is sure to have you dancing, partying and having a great time.
With their freshly-printed self-titled debut album in hand, the band is on a mission to get their songs to fresh ears. They feel that the album showcases the variety of styles that they present to their live show. The album was recorded at Blackbox Studios in Edmonton, where the band is based. The Fireseeds are Ross vanEldik on guitar Terrence Katerynych on drums, Humbert Medeiros on bass and Marc Mercier on lead vocals. The band’s original bass player, Shane Larmand, is still a contributing songwriter. After playing many of the clubs in their city, vanEldik is most proud of the response they’ve had from first time listeners. “Some of my favorite nights are when we play a neighbourhood pub where nobody knows us... there are all kinds of people there, we keep them engaged and they stick around and party all night.” He adds,”We love to play live, we love the songs and want to share them. That’s it.”
