Welcome to our info page at Cd Baby! As I’m sure you already know, our band’s name is The Sound Ethic and we are based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our band was slowly put together about three years ago when I (Ansel Avery) was attending Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. My room-mate (Matt Vanlier) found me an electric guitarist (Dave Brown) who also shared the same passion for music.

To make a long story short, I met Dave and showed him the material and we became good friends. We then ran an open mic on behalf of Cedarville University at a coffee shop called Beans n Cream. While doing this we continued to play small gigs in the area. Once this time was over, I moved to Virginia Beach and Dave left for Nashville. I re-wrote the EP and then renamed the band to The Sound Ethic. Since then we’ve expanded, adding a bassist by the name of Josh Morgan a friend of ours in the Chesapeake area, and our drummer Josh Devine from Portsmouth, Va.

Currently, Dave is a law student, I’m a police officer, Josh Morgan is a church Youth Leader and Josh Devine is a Navy seaman.

Our music is pop rock with a hint of folk and techno, quite the mix! Anyways, here is our album Makeshift Melodies! I hope you thoroughly enjoy our tracks, thank you for your support!!!

Sincerely,

Ansel Avery
