Lamar C. Horne, a native of Wadesboro, North Carolina, began his singing career at a very young age with gospel quartet groups in his hometown.
Upon relocating to Washington, D.C., Lamar traveled nationally, singing as a background vocalist (tenor) with the late Mme. Edna Gallman Cooke three years. Later joining the late Julius Cheeks and the Four Knights, Lamar traveled, recorded, and continued to sing nationally with this group for about four years. "How Far Is Heaven" is one of many well-known tunes that the group released during his tenure.
As time passed, Lamar joined Tommy Ellison and the Five Singing Stars. While there, he recorded "Lord, I Want You To Move" under the HSE Label. He remained with Tommy for about five years.
In 1973, Lamar moved to South Carolina, founded his own group, The Gospel Serenadors. The group has released a number of albums/cds. Recordings have been with Seventy-
