Cary Simms first noted his love for the saxophone as a youth in Oakland, California where he was born. Cary spent much of his early teen years in California where his father, who was a local musician that played for many local area Churches as a Pianist, introduced him to the gospel scene. Cary’s young life influenced by the Bay Area music scene of varying styles ranging from Gospel, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, started developing his ear for melodies by spending hours listening to all types of music. Later He and his family, relocated to the Pacific Northwest where he continued to pursue his love of music. A child prodigy, Cary’s earlier musical influences were received from Portland, Oregon’s finest and most revered performers and instructors (i.e. John Gross, Dennis Springer, Thara Memory, Janice Scroggins, Ricky Callier).

Cary accepted his call to minister to people the world over via music, wherein 2002, he released his first CD entitled "Intimated Thoughts", Which featured Bassist Nathan East of the group "FOUR PLAY", and Bassist Danny Wilson former bassist of the "Jeff lober Band" and some of Portland, Or. greatest talent as well as partnered with fellow musicians and artists to produce several local Studio recording and live performance projects.

His first of many CD’s was Produced by Rick Callier and Cary Simms, Mixed by Tim Greenidge and Cary Simms and mastered by Rick E. at Supper digital in Portland, Or.

Cary Simms Isn’t afraid to step out on what he knows, regardless of not having any major funding from the "major or minor" record companies. Cary funded and over seen the entire “Intimate Thought” project himself. Cary Simms demonstrates profound leadership and vision to produce one of the year finest work of art.

Playing for and in all types of events, ranging form local church conventions, Rap concerts, youth programs, jam sessions, or opening for international gospel/Vocal artists (i.e. Yolanda Adams, Tonex, Commission, comedian Jonathan Slocum, National speakers, or the late great Thomas Whitfield), Cary continues to let his light shine through the melodic notes of his Alto/tenor/Sop, saxophones.

Cary at times admits.. "That I’m a late bloomer". Has made the decision to step out and pursue his life’s passion of sharing his love and desire to influence as many people as possible through his God given talent. Cary is known for bring the energy to every situation he’s made himself available for as well as been so sensitive to the music he plays.

2007 will not be the exception but the rule for Cary Simms, as he continues to breach the ceilings of faith houses, Concerts, Recording, Jam Sessions,Festival everywhere he goes to proclaim the gospel through his music ministry.

Look for his upcoming projects due out Christmas 2008, as well as a host of special appearances throughout the United States and Internationally.
