Details:
Luminous began in Kona, Hawaii two years ago. David and Natalie Bruce (founders) were recently married. They both recently had experienced God change their lives, and they wanted to make a difference in the world. They wanted their generation to know that there is more to life than what MTV sells us, while doing something they are truly passionate about. The idea was to create music and visual media to communicate to people a meaningful message of the Cross with a killer sound. Charged with determination, they set out to create the sound of Luminous.

In April of 2002, four newly recruited members moved into a house called Kings Mansion (Youth With a Mission) in Hawaii. "We just went for it day and night," recalls David. They ate, slept, and breathed music for 3 months, creating the first self titled album Luminous. The band made its way to Nashville, Tennessee to record their first album. Natalie says, "We completed the first album in 2 and half weeks start to finish. Morning till night we worked, and unfortunately we sent the recording engineer to the doctor with an ulcer." Nice work Luminous!

From there, Luminous was off on a four and a half month tour in the US. They traveled over 15,000 miles, visited 30 states, and played before thousands of people mostly in youth groups, schools, universities, and churches. After a brief stint at home in Hawaii, they headed off to New Zealand. Lead singer, Natalie, has lived most of her life in Christchurch, New Zealand. So naturally, Luminous gravitated to the land of the long white cloud. They toured in New Zealand for a total of 2 months.

During that time, the band decided they were ready to record. Again the band spent 2 months creating and "barking at the moon" to come up with the newest album, "Exposing the Dark." The band brought in producer, Chris Diprose (Straightline). "Chris was amazing to work with. He really helped bring a cohesive sound to our band." David recalls. The band also worked with Ian Mcallister (Salmonella Dub, Pacifier) "Ian was an amazing engineer, the best in New Zealand," said Natalie. So the band was charged up with their new album. They set off to Australia to tour. They had an incredible time traveling all over the east coast. They played in music festivals, high schools, churches and on the streets.

Luminous went from ''down under'' to Japan for a five week tour. This was the band''s first experience playing in a foreign culture. They had an incredible time, and developed a love for the people of Japan, and hope to return there in the future. Tim Willson (drummer) had spent a year living in Japan, and just absolutely loves the Japanese culture and people. He feels that someday he will live there long term.

Since the release of "Exposing the Dark", Luminous has begun develop listeners and fans around the globe. In two and half years the band has been around the world were able to get distribution deals in New Zealand with Parachute Music, in Australia, with Kennedy Intl. and lastly, in Japan with Gocha distribution. The music has been played on radio stations in New Zealand and Australia. They are looking to come to your town or radio station soon. Who knows what another 2 years will bring? So keep your ears open for the sound of Luminous.
