Recorded at Ground One Studios, in Paul’s house, from December of1990 through February of1992, this project stands as one of the bookends of Paul’s long recording history. Never one to shy away from vulnerability, Paul exposed his own soul in hopes of reaching those behind the cloud of discouragement. The songs were penned when Paul was hospitalized for an extended period of time for infirmities of the body, (herniated l-4/L5 disc) and a broken heart. His passion for a deeper relationship with Christ was once again revealed in his poetic lyrics.
Rallying around Paul under the abnormal circumstances, Don Harris, (Bass, Keys and Guitar), Rod Lincoln, (Drums and Percussion) and Eric Elwell, (Engineer), made this project what it is, authentically transparent and powerful beyond music and lyrics.
Mixed by Dan Garcia, assisted by John Hendrickson and mastered by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab in Hollywood, the recording is dreamy and lush, but open and exposed. The cover photograph by Skip Heitzig and Jenanne Jenkins, sets the visual tone for what’s inside.
