Details:
Day of the Fight are a four piece rock band playing a brand of music that they like to call “heart on sleeves South Coast rock”. In more definitive terms this is a fusion of the melodic punk of bands such as No Motiv with the radio rock of Samiam and the niceness of Beezewax all driven along by a sense of friendship, DIY, and respect that the South Coast seems to be associated with (Jets Vs Sharks, for example).

Since forming in 2002 they’ve played on several tours both on their own and with others (Phema, Awkward Silence etc) and have taken in shows up and down the country. After several demo recordings and a somewhat DIY split EP release January 2005 has brought about the release of their first full length CD entitled Modern Rock Hall of Fame on the newly formed From Outside Earth Records (imprint of webzine https://www.tradebit.com). The album is ten tracks in length and a testament to the DIY spirit forgotten by so many bands (self recorded, artwork by good friend Joe of Jets Vs Sharks, mixed and released with the help of friends).

Here are what some press like people thought of it:

Play Dead #15: “I guess you could say that DOTF, play emo-rock, i.e. it’s rock, but it’s definitely influenced by bands like Jimmy Eat World etc. That’s not to say that it’s all highly polished stuff with hummable choruses and radio friendly tunes. This album has more in common with bands like Hitechjet and Kids Near Water than it does with any bands that you might find on a label like Punktastic or Drive Thru. And that’s certainly a good thing, because as the world get filled up with bands that sound like other bands, its nice to see a dedicated few sticking to their guns and just playing what feels right, rather than being screamo band number 56 of the week. Y’know?”

https://www.tradebit.com: “There is a really good mix of poppy, bouncy singalong bits and more mathy, heavier sections ... and it''s probably the case that one or two songs will make their way onto mixtapes this summer.”

https://www.tradebit.com: “they certainly pack a punch and will be well worth checking out if they visit your town this summer”

They also got featured in the Under The Radar section of Play Dead #16: “Sometimes there''s bands that will blow you away pure and simply because they''re at the cutting edge, trying to push the boundaries and sometimes there''s those bands that just write good fucking tunes. Day Of The Fight are most certainly the latter.
That''s not to take anything away from them, they''re not dull, formulaic or even genre-fitting. What this band do is write great, and interesting tunes and their debut album ''modern rock and roll hall of fame'' is a great testament to this. Out now on From Outside Earth Records (the label of the gamefoe webzine), so far it''s not exactly put the band up there with the scene leaders, but for us lucky ones who do own it, it''s one of the best British rock records of the year, and that alone is reason enough for you to check it out.”
