Details:
Bluegrass music was born in the mid-1940''s. Built on traditional origins, it was new music, the brainchild of Bill Monroe, but articulated by the extraordinary musicians at his side. At the time, Bluegrass was commercial music -- one band''s way to distinguish itself, make a buck and stay in business. In music, this happens all the time, but rarely is that new sound such a fertile seed that such a mammoth genre grows from it.

At some point, Bluegrass went from being one band''s sound, to becoming a world-renowned, American traditional art form. In order to prosper, traditions must be carried from generation to generation, learned, respected, added to, and moved forward, inspiring the next wave of musicians to do the same.

David Mayfield is riding the front edge of the next wave. He was born into a musical family, raised to understand and respect tradition but encouraged to find his own voice. It''s a beautiful thing to see, when a young person finds their true calling, and spends their childhood days in intuitive pursuit of their passion.

David''s sights are set high, his role models are the best, and his potential, well, endless. This recording brings together his innate rhythmic sense, contemporary improvisational ability, and his understanding of what makes Bluegrass music great.

He has matured into a soulful and tasteful lead singer. Often times, that''s more a matter of what NOT to do, when delivering a lyric. His voice is honest and sincere. He effortlessly delivers these songs mainly because he wrote most of them. In classic Bluegrass fashion, many of the songs are drawn from his own experience, are realised vicariously, or are carefully chosen to express his own perspective on the music.

David is a rare combination of humility and self-confidence,
creativity and skill, professionalism and big fun. The Bluegrass
tradition is in good hands.
