Goodbye Dyna is the name of the new project of Andy Jacobs and Jason Schmidt, formerly of Bend-based alt-rock bands Blame Amy and Vihara, respectively.
The project grew out of Jacobs’ effort to write a song per month for a year. He and Schmidt then took those songs and spent the summer recording the band’s new album, “XXVII,” with Schmidt playing most of the drum parts, and Jacobs recording everything else.
The songs reveal a band that embraces buzzy guitar-rock, but not at the expense of memorable melodies. Goodbye Dyna’s sound fits somewhere among alt-rock giants like Alice In Chains, the Foo Fighters and the Meat Puppets, with a little 21st-century flair. The soaring pop-rocker “Setting Sun” is a highlight.

"I wrote these songs in order to channel a release. Letting go of "a chip on my shoulder" or "a monkey on my back" by pouring my words & emotion into a song. I call this a "Goodbye Dynamic". The art of bidding farewell to cumbersome ideals, outdated philosophies, even lost Loves through music. This process leaves one ready & willing for change. To be capable of moving in a new direction with positivity & perspective whilst tapping your foot to some good tunes. I can only hope the music does for you what it does for me."
