Mikes Modern Music formed in 1990 as a songwriting and recording project fronted by Michael Vidakovich who has been the cheif songwriter and vocalist. The group is influenced by the jazz, rhythm&blues, pop, and rock from the 1940''s through the 1970''s. Anything from jump blues, to the harmonies of 50''s doo--wop, to Smokey Robinson, Stax Records, A.M. pop, and even Latino roots, and the jazz/soul sounds of the 60''s can be foun in the grooves of Mikes Modern Music. Nostalgia or a desire to stay lost in the past is not the goal, however. Timely lyrics that address the prospect of aging in a youth obsessed culture, obsession with fame and materialism are sung and played in a rolling vibe that includes horns, harmony, and torch and twang, while the timeless topic of love both bad and good are expressed in their many forms. Mikes Modern Music has sold their CD''s in the Detroit MI. area and have had their music downloaded in Europe
