MacDonald began singing in a Newport, RI waterfront bar while in the US Navy in the early seventies. Subsequently discharged as a conscientious objector, he became one of Greenwich Village''s singer-songwriters in the 70s, moved to Florida in the mid-90s, was been named "best local acoustic artist" by the New Times and "one of ten magnificent musicians" by the Palm Beach Post. A veteran of the Fast Folk Musical Magazine recording artists while in NYC, he has twenty-one songs in the Smithsonian Folkways collection, and 9 cds. Besides recording and touring, he lectures on music in Florida Atlantic University''s Lifelong Learning Program, and is sometimes seen gigging around Delray Beach, FL.
