Mista Slykk who''s real name is Eric Dewayne Ammons was born on July 6, 1974 in St. Elizabeth hospital. He grew up on the southside of Houston,Tx in a neighborhood known as Hiram Clarke. It was at the age of 15 in the halls and classrooms of Madison High where he first started to rhyme. In school it was just to pass the time away or to battle with friends. After he graduated high school he kinda put the rhyming skills on the back burner and pursued a career in computers. But like all natural rhymers if it is meant for you to do then it will eventually come calling you back.
In 1996 he was part of a group called The Southside Hustlers, But they ran into some creative differences and He decided to pursue a solo career. So combining his knowledge of computers and his love for music he started is own recording studio,(Ammo Studio), which encouraged him to start his own record label, (Ammo Productions).
He says after listening to other artists such as Rakim, Kool Moe Dee, LL Cool J, NWA, Ice-T, Tupac, KRS-One, and Will Smith he feels that he can bring back the lyrical skills that rhyming was, with the new generation of music. He also wants to let the world know that Houston can blaze with rest of the world in the music industry. He have blazed Houston''s clubs, such as MVP, the Game Room, and No Doubt with songs from his debut album Who Dis. He says he can accept the industry the way it is, but will the industry accept him the way he is?
