From the average man to the brooding rock and roll legend, what makes
us the same and how do we interpret our experience in real time. Or rather,
is time real at all or just a way we know how to organize our lives, our pain,
our pleasure and our observations of others. The album opens with ''Milton''s
Offer'' which is a real life tale of an aging doctor who has a party at his house
in the hills and invites many young friends. He reflects on his life and entertains the guests with his stories that become the song. ''Nothing Else Will Do'' is a musical firestorm that takes its influence from artists such as Radiohead and Jeff Buckley and spits it out as a mental battle cry for inner peace and escape from self torment over an object of desire. Another song, ''Icon'', deals with the subject of an entertainment figure who loathes being overanalyzed and worshipped for his work. He is the far extreme of the character spectrum on this album, in far contrast to the homeless man observed in ''Lost Souls Communion'' or the thoughtful person reflecting on the struggle to recognize his or her gifts in ''Match Up''. The album ends with the eloquent ''Lifebed'' which is the summation and conscious realization that we all have the power to do what we want if we are brave enough to take the leap of faith. So we lay a groundwork for self discovery, find out what we can be, and then with all the tools in hand we stand at the edge and look over the side and indeed the view is grand. Release.
