Joel Limpic is an artist/musician who was born in California, grew up in Brazil, and ended up landing in Oklahoma City a few years ago. He’s released a few independent projects over the last few years, each providing a unique snapshot of a season in his life and those around him.
Remembrance was recorded in and released late 2006. It was produced and mixed by Don Chaffer (Waterdeep, Derek Webb, Robbie Seay, This Holiday Life), then mastered in Nashville by Hank Williams at Master Mix. From the first ringing piano notes of "We Enter Your Gates" to the last haunting notes of "Put Your Heart", this album is about remembering. As humans, we are easily distracted and forget to celebrate the things in life that actually mean something. Each song in its own way is a voice calling you to remember and return to life.
"We Enter Your Gates" joins the cry of the Psalmist, beckoning you to recall the beautiful story God has written and is writing, and in that recalling to respond with joy and gratitude. "All Our Fountains" speaks of humanity as a wandering people, and reminds us where our true fountain is found. So often we find ourselves drinking from shallow warm stagnant puddles, when a deep well of cold water is sitting quietly nearby. "Around You" confesses how incredibly unstable and shaken this world is, and then calls us to build our lives on a higher, more stable ground, namely God and his words. "Put Your Heart" was actually written as a spontaneous song during a worship set in Denver, and then written down after the fact. This song is calling humanity to be who they were called to be: the hands and feet and love of God to the world. It ends with a reading of Isaiah 61, remembering all that God wants to do through us. We hope this album helps you recall and remember who God is, who we are in him, and all we''re called to be.
