Birmingham Weekly Says:

Let''s get this straight at the start: If you don''t like smooth jazz fused with a little soul and a hefty dose of religion, you probably won''t dig Jones'' Rainbow. But if you can check off all the above, then this release is one you''ll want to add to your collection. If you listen to WVSU 91.1 FM then you probably fall into the latter category - and you''ve probably already heard one of the songs off Jones'' album. "It''s A Great Day" has enjoyed strong rotation on the smooth jazz station and "For Me" on the gospel stations for a few months now and helped earn Jones - a Birminghamian who recorded the CD in Hueytown AL - area recognition for his album. Aside from that single, the rest of the CD is a mixed bag. Three tracks include vocalists but the most compelling songs are instrumentals. Jones, the album''s lead guitarist/composer and producer, recruited a host of local musicians to help him round out the record. Dextry White''s drums fuel songs such as "It''s A Great Day" and "Jam Session" (probably the most creative of the album''s songs) and bass guitar riffs (handled alternately by Andrew Postell and Rodney Turner), particularly Postell''s ending solo on "God Has Smiled On Me," complement Jones'' lead guitar. Even if you don''t exactly love the smooth jazz genre, it''s tough to listen to this album and deny Jones'' impressive guitar chops. In fact, no disrespect to the soloists (who bring that soulful church choir sound to the disc on "For Me," "My Rainbow" and other tracks), but this album would probably stand out even more as an instrumental record.
- Phillip Jordan (Birmingham Weekly)

Reginald grew up in Bessemer Alabama. As a child his parents would buy him a toy guitar every year for Christmas, until the age of 12. This is when all the guitar notes started making sense to him. Reginald tried to understand the guitar before hand and could not, but one day he decided to pray to God and his prayer was (Lord if you teach me how to play this guitar I will play it for you the rest of my life to draw people to you). After that prayer, he placed a song into his recorder that was song by Walter Hawkins and amazingly he was able to follow the song on his guitar. From that day forth Reginald has continued to dedicate his music to Christ by staying with the Church band even though he plays all over the US. This is an amazing story because God personally taught him how to play the guitar.

He is now considered as a guitar specialist that is very gifted in writing rhythms and songs that will make you move. He plays in the band at his church and can get you off the pew and onto your feet. Reginald''s love is gospel music. It was always being played in the home when he was growing up, but his father love was jazz and his father would challenge him to do what the other artists were doing. His father, Robert C. Jones, was a great motivator and this is why he dedicated this CD to him. Reginald is trying to make Gospel music for the people. His primary focus is on the musicianship. His music is Gospel, but with a major jazzy twist that will blow you away! Be prepared to hear major and minor notes from him that will make you feel like playing a guitar yourself. The sound of Reginald''s guitar makes you think of a younger George Benson.

PS. Reginald wants to make every fan feel special after purchasing his CD. He will personally autograph your purchased copy after receiving it. Please email him and let him know that you would like to have your copy autographed.
