This EP is a peek at two releases coming out. The title track a studio recording off the ''ItsALLlove...really" disc out in November ''04. Bonus tracks 2-5 are off the ''Stephen Spyrit LIVE(s)," a collection of readings, rantings, singings and rappings from radio broadcasts, the LuvJonz sessions and other shows; I''m lucky to live in Portland Oregon where music producers are as abundant as the salmon used to be.
"itsALLlove...no really" drops in November. We''re very excited about this project; Billy Triplett, David Parks, DJ X among others are helping me build tracks. We''re using live musicians and building sample tracks. Billy Triplett is an industry icon, working the faders for the likes of the Dandy Warhols, Lisa Marie Presley and James Brown just to drop a few names from his workload in the last year.
For ''stephen spyrit LIVE(s) we took recordings from many live venues and events. The LuvJonz was an amazing ground breaking series that went on for 21/2 years here in Portland before being shut down by racist attitudes in the industry and legislative bodies here. Just too many strong voices from the ethnic underground! It featured the ''Reparations Band'', led by David Parks and often-getting 8 pieces of instrumentation. It was a weekly happening that as a performer I looked forward to playing but also just watching as a cavalcade of great voices graced the stage in front of one of the hottest jam bands in the country. Reparations and David Parks have upcoming releases and you should keep ears peeled for them.
As I said I''m blessed to live here on the west coast of America, almost another county philosophically. The u.s.a is less of an influence, strip away my Indian genetics and you will still get a connection to the land and the cycles that are present here; rain forests in ancient old growth mountains, salmon runs that are timeless no matter how many damns go up, wireless internet free all over my city! Chief Joseph said anyone that feels the land is an Indian. So we have the aboriginal through the cyber realities going; the ultimate in analogue and digital civilization. That''s the root of all the songs we write, the gardens we plant and the love that we offer.
