Thom Parrott''s mother says he was using complete sentences at nine months and started singing about the same time. On this project, Thom also performs on keyboards, guitars, bass, mandolin and harmonica. Parrott has been in an assortment of rock, country, folk, jug and blues bands and played guitar for Allen Ginsberg. He was a contributor to the Grammy nominated CD set "Best of Broadside: 1962-1988; Anthems of the American Underground" with Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Arlo Guthrie, Janis Ian, et al., and has performed at Carnegie Hall with Pete Seeger.
On "Everything Is Fine," Thom Parrott (vocal, rhythm guitar, bass on 6), Caleb Miles (bass, guitar on 6) and Jim Schwar (drums) laid down the basic tracks "live" in the studio. Most of those "reference" vocals were retained. Additional guitar parts are by Caleb and Thom. Banjo by Bob Goldstein. Fiddle by Rob Loren. Piano by engineer Doug Blakely. Keyboard, mandolin and harmonica by Thom Parrott. Additional vocals by Thom, Bonnie Bluhm, Amethyst MacGregor. Final mix by Grammy winning engineer and producer Q!
Thom has been called "Albuquerque''s Bob Dylan." Parrott''s writing and performing have been described as sounding like Lightnin'' Hopkins, Eric von Schmidt and John Prine. Thom likes to quote Big Bill Broonzy who, when asked to define "folk songs" replied "I reckon all songs are folk songs, I never heard no horses singing any."
Along with those already mentioned, Parrott''s favorite singers include Bing Crosby, Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin -- outside genius, you find the stylistic thru line, we can''t. From the fully acoustic "Woman of My Dreams" to the country chart song "Teardrops On Tap" to the hard rock of "New Heartache" to the joyous rockNroll of the title song "Its All Been Taken Care Of," singer-songwriter Thom Parrott shows his love for all of his American roots and shares that love with us.
