Grub Street was an old London street that was home to struggling writers, low-end publishers, booksellers, brothels, coffee houses and drinking dens. It no longer exists, but the name has become synonymous with hack writing and struggling word merchants.
Sometimes you can hide in a bottle. Other times you get lost in pop culture ideas of what a person should be, or aspire to be; what love should be. What a life ought to consist of and what it amounts to… All five songs are about struggling against the pressure of those forces in some way.
