Geronimo! is a three piece rock band from Chicago, IL. Everyone in the group had moved to Chicago in the past few years, and their latest EP, "A Different Kind of Greatness," is inspired by their experiences of leaving the town they grew up in (Rockford, IL) in contrast to life in the city. The EP title comes from Rockford''s appropriate official slogan while they were growing up. Released in January 2009, it''s a self-recorded indie rock record dabbling in grunge/stoner rock territory. While recording, the band tried to keep an ear out for interesting sounds by mostly using a tape machine in various rooms of an empty house and overdriving certain instruments as needed. They were also lucky enough to have the EP mixed and mastered by friend Josh Miller (Troubled Hubble, Picture Books). Another interesting facet of the band is that Geronimo! doesn''t have a bass player. Instead, the band uses a keyboard shifted down an octave and run through a bass rig to fill out the low end.
