CONNECTED: From a Harem of Beauty Queens to ‘Posi Pop’ Dreams
Inspirational singer-songwriter, pianist, recording artist and international performer, Robyn McCorquodale is CONNECTED in her latest CD release of 12 self-penned positive pop songs. “There’s an exciting new genre of music emerging,” she says with great enthusiasm. “It’s called ‘Posi Music’: the musical expression of the positive shift of consciousness taking place on the planet.” According to the Positive Music Association, Posi Music is conscious music that inspires conscious relationships, health, work, and living. It is uniting, inclusive, universal and uplifting in nature. It has a positive effect on the listener, being physically and emotionally healing, facilitating a sense of well being and inner joy, increasing motivation and promoting action.
CONNECTED shines with Robyn’s poetic and uplifting lyrics comprising universal and meaningful messages of hope that celebrate unity, life, love and empowerment. From the upbeat title track ‘Connected’, in praise of unity for mankind, to ‘Shining Star’ and ‘Perfekt Az U R’, both inspiring self-love in realizing one’s potential, to a song honoring motherhood, ‘Mother, You Are A Miracle’, and lyrics cheering for individuality and tolerance in ‘Strangers On The Earth’, the collection of songs were arranged by Robyn and one of New York City’s finest musicians, the highly credited jazz pianist, Jon Weber. Creatively performed by a cross-border team of A-List musicians from New York, Chicago and Vancouver, each song sings with beautiful and uplifting melodies, lush harmonies and compelling grooves. All combined, the recording rings with sweet and unique sounds of today’s pop music, beautifully expressing and representing Robyn’s beliefs, dreams and unyielding desire to be part of a growing wave of consciousness making positive change happen.
CONNECTED reflects Robyn’s spiritual journey, one that she identifies as beginning upon her first professional music engagement, singing in Southeast Asia for a notorious playboy prince and his harem. “I knew at the time it was a significant chapter in my life. I mean, it’s not everyday that you walk into a decadently decorated room and are suddenly surrounded by diamonds, gold, and beauty queens dressed up for a party, lounging about watching Madonna’s Truth or Dare video, drinking Dom Perignon Champagne,” she says. Ironically, her lasting memory of 60 days spent in notably one of the richest places in the world, is the vivid and haunting impression of the many sad eyes she left behind.
Since that first unique overseas engagement, Robyn has performed for over one million people, sharing positive and uplifting messages in her music and storytelling with listeners from around the world. Entertaining audiences in New York City, Hong Kong and Vancouver, in between contracts to exotic destinations headlining as a main stage Guest Entertainer on luxury cruise ships, Robyn has circumnavigated the globe more than once, gaining a wealth of experiences along a journey that continues to fuel her song writing and passion for music and life. With a performance resume comprising engagements taking her to all seven continents, her favorite place in the world is Antarctica, which she claims to be the most spiritual place she has ever visited, where beauty, quietude and being connected.
