Magg-1 a native of Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn enters the game at a crucial time. In the midst of the popular Southern Hip-Hop and so called East Coast Gangster Rap comes Magg-1’s refreshing sound and brand. Magg is no stranger to the streets and life''s hard lessons; this has taught him to be triumphant when oppression rears its ugly head.
At the age of eight Magg witnessed his mother’s murder at the hands of his own stepfather. Quickly he had to learn how to fend for himself and keep vultures at bay. Hip-Hop then became like a second nurturer to him. Motivated by the depth of artists such as Tupac and Biggie, these pioneers gave Magg the passion for the art at the age of thirteen.
To Magg Hip-Hop is a home, the streets are a school, and the future is his focus. At the age of seventeen he was forced out on his own and dropped out of school to support himself. He turned to hustling like so many young men before him as a means to survive. Magg has seen the unforgiving perils of the street, heard the hood cries of so many that were in its enduring grasp, and some experienced this at his own hands. But like a soldier wounded in battle, Magg once again heard the war cry of his music, music that he knew would soon affect the world.
Fusing together the passion of Hip-Hop and the grittiness of the street, Magg still managed to incorporate a universal sound that all listeners can identify with. He soon took to the streets once again, but not as they remembered him before. This time, he had something far better than quick fixes, something priceless that affects and touches our lives. Magg began marketing his brand by way of mixtapes, Hip Hop Street DVDs, artist showcases and various internet outlets. These outlets helped to strengthen his brand and generate a street buzz that continues to gain momentum.
The more hip-hop evolves the more multi-faceted an artist has to become. Magg sees himself as no exception. His earliest ventures include opening his own club/lounge with his manager Zero Gravity in Brooklyn. Currently he is working with talented producers Clutchlife Productions and GQ BEATS. These ambitious beat makers bridge their sound to Magg''s supreme vocals making believers out of jaded listeners.
Magg is also launching his own entertainment group Underground Giants Entertainment, where he sits as C.E.O and front man. With many notches under his belt one would have to think Magg-1 means Man After Giant Goals-for 1 Purpose.
