ABOUT THE ALBUM:
"500 Miles" is a tribute to the songwriters of all the beautiful, melodic folk songs Jo Anne has had the privilege to perform since she was a teenager. It is only with hindsight that she began to understand the profound impact this music has had on her life and the way it helped shape her view of the world. She considers it a blessing to have come of age in the ''60s and ''70s, in the midst of what she believes was a remarkable musical renaissance.

At fifteen, she taught herself to play the guitar, learning just about every song recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary, her greatest musical influence. Her title track selection, "500 Miles," pays homage to these three brilliant artists whose passionate music gave her the inspiration to become a fellow troubadour, thus beginning her life as a professional musician.

The wonderful guitarists who are playing with Jo Anne on "500 Miles" are Don Raymond (the lead guitar player for Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys), Howard Yearwood (check out Howard on https://www.tradebit.com) and Paul Nielsen (https://www.tradebit.com They are not only lifelong friends of hers, but she has journeyed many a magical musical mile with each one of them. She is thrilled to present their world class talents on this album.

As she pondered the choices for this CD, the songs seemed to choose themselves, each one a dear old friend getting sweeter with time. It is with great pleasure that she includes the Joe and Eddie classic, “Muddy Old River”, the first song she learned and performed on the guitar, as well as the offerings of John Denver, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Ian Tyson, Kris Kristofferson, Anne Murray, Leonard Cohen, Judy Collins, Robbie Robertson, Mike Settle, Shel Silverstein, Gene MacLellan, Hedy West, and of course Peter, Paul and Mary. She hopes their songs speak to you as they continue to speak to her.

SOME COOL STUFF:
Jo Anne has been singing and playing the guitar throughout the Los Angeles area for most of her life. Her first music job required her to obtain a social security number. That job was at Disneyland where she played in a folk group called The Fourmost in a show called Hootenanny Nights, sharing the bill with a skinny young singer named Hoyt Axton.

Her diverse musical adventures ranges from playing in a bluegrass band in Montie Montana Jr.’s Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Jakarta, Indonesia, to singing backup for Iron Butterfly in the “20 Years After: Woodstock Reunion Concert.” She won Nashville’s Music Row Magazine’s Discovery Award for her CD "Hometown Beauty Queen" (also posted on cdbaby), performed as the opening act for Billy Preston, Sawyer Brown, and Lee Greenwood, and has sung on many radio and television commercials. In 2007, Jo Anne kicked off her music-producing career with Al Timss’s jazz CD "Last Call."

As a songwriter, Jo Anne coauthored songs with Randy Pugh and Ron Guffnet that charted in the top ten of the Top 100 Country Hits across Europe. One of her most recent bookings was at the beautiful Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, California, where she performed a single act.

Jo Anne graduated cum laude from Long Beach State University with a BA in Theater Arts. In her senior year of college, she cofounded the Burbage Theater in Hermosa Beach, California, where she acted and musical-directed a number of plays and musicals. She was honored with a Drama-Logue Award for Most Outstanding Performance as the lead in the play Death of a Miner.

Be on the look out for Jo Anne’s new poetry book, "Dreams for Sale," soon to be released. For more information visit https://www.tradebit.com
