Details:
The Tin Hearts are a band four strong who have traveled the world and have found themselves drawn back to Central Ohio; possibly the most honest place in America. Matthew O. Sullivan sings lead, writes the songs, plays harmonica and hollow body electric guitar. Angela Sutton plays keys, and bass and sings backing vocals. Andrew Ricard plays drums and Andy Frederick plays lead electric guitar.
This band has shared the stage with Elisa Nicolas, Megan Palmer, Eric Nassau, Pert Near Sandstone, The Winter Sessions, Erica Carey and The Calamities, and many more. They fit nicely in the space created between folk, blues and rock created by luminaries such as The Band and Blind Faith and continued by bands such as The Gourds, Neco Case, and The Felice Brothers.
The Tin Hearts are currently promoting their first album, The Tin Hearts. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Elisa Nicolas in her basement studio. This effort illustrates that a homemade album can sound exactly like music is supposed to; honest, original, interesting; and good.

Some reactions to the album and the band:

Forged in the fires of rhythm, rock, blues and soul, the Tin Hearts'' tight, gritty electric sting and haunting organ melodies harken back to a time when the living and drinking were hard, but the music kept ''em coming back for more.

Live audience response to this four-piece incarnation is spooky-strong – somewhere out in front of the tight percussion, baleful keyboards, guitar wail and carny vocals, this band awakens dancing ghosts who will cut the rug from under your feet.

The fertile soil of Central Ohio has breathed life into more than corn and soybeans… (a) sound that combines the traditions of Appalachian folk, twangy country and meaty rock ’n’ roll... A welcome newcomer is a quartet called the Tin Hearts, which plays a loose, noisy racket of down-home goodness.

The Tin Hearts show a great deal of promise, fitting in nicely with the more rambunctious Bloodshot Records crowd as well as the sweeter, softer, Gillian Welch side of modern country.
