The multifaceted sound of The Vincents is difficult to classify at times. Some moments find the band sprouting experimental roots and painting somewhat ambient and somber sonic pictures. At other times they dabble in nineties-grunge-esque, distortion-laden grooves with infectious vocal work strewn about.
Keeping the sound memorable and coherent while at the same time offering audiences a diversity of music, The Vincents aim to please a wide range of listeners-- from enthusiasts of brooding guitar rock to fans of exploratory genres to supporters of indie or metal.
Frontman Jordan Tanner, whose emotive vocals tend to draw from the sounds of Thom Yorke, Scott Weiland, or Brandon Boyd, also plays guitar in the band and creates melodic, anthemic, hooky riffs. Meanwhile, bassist Brandon Black locks in tight with long-time comrade Stephen Roberts on drums to build a hard-hitting and diverse rhythm section.
While their varied songwriting keeps the crowd guessing, the band’s explosive live onstage performances are always memorable and energetic. No stranger to the stage, singer/guitarist Tanner has opened for many well-known acts in the past including the Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows, and The Fray.
The band’s self-titled EP was released independently in April 2009, and contains six tracks that explore darker themes such as guilt, discontent, and adultery.
