Snail Quail has been playing shows throughout the Southwest since 2007 when founding member, Mr. Jimmy, returned to his native Arizona from a soul-searching trip to San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Jimmy quickly began work on Moving On, a five-song EP partly recorded during his time in the Lone Star State.
The acoustic guitar-heavy sound of Snail Quail has already attracted the beginnings of a diverse following locally and garnered attention for Mr. Jimmy''s quirky songwriting style. Some have likened his sound to that of The Starting Line, Pavement, MxPx, and even Johnny Cash.
''Moving On'' features a wide range of emotion for its relatively short length. It includes the raucous Opposite Love Song, the tale of a newly-wed couple''s marital woes (a tune that always inspires the contented grins of older couples at shows), the somber Change In My Pocket, and Someplace Better, a danceable ode to avoiding the blackhole of party life. It also includes Heavy Water, and the stand out track Moving On.
