“Out of the Dirt” is the follow-up EP to Stephen Soul’s debut “Rise Above”. It contains five alternate versions and mixes of songs from “Rise Above” plus one new song titled, “Get On”.
“Out of the Dirt” illustrates the live performance side of Stephen Soul. The five alternate versions and mixes developed from performing them live in the summer and fall of 2008.
The concert performances were recreated with “single-take”, live recordings.
The lone new song “Get On” was written for Stephen’s sister, Mary, who the EP has been dedicated to.
Stephen Soul can be described as Modern Rock with a taste for 80’s synthesizers and rhythms but with the distortion and power of post-punk and 90’s Alternative
