Gloria Thompson Rodgers is a singer/songwriter and musician. She’s a true artist that constantly re-invents herself. She’s both a national and international artist that worked with the Late Phil Guy, Willie Kent, and Mack Simmons. She’s opened for Buddy Guy, Joe Louis Walker, Little Milton, Watermelon Slim and a host of other touring bands through the years. Thompson Rodgers has shared her stage with everybody who was anybody in Chicago Blues. She’s no stranger to festivals Concerts, special events or clubs. She is the ultimate live performer and puts her signiture on every song.

Thompson Rodgers has recorded at the BBC, Delmark Records, self produced on the CottonPatch label. Her recordings include the best players in Blues; Kenneth “Hollywood” Scott, Walter Scott, James Wheeler, Bob Stroger, Orlando Wright and Billy Flynn. She''s done concerts in Greece, Paris, Latavia, and toured the UK. She performed on the Norwegian Star Blues Cruise with Wilson Picket. Thompson Rodgers is a free thinker that knows what she wants. With all major obstacles removed she’s moving full speed ahead.

Thompson Rodgers is a native Chicagoan. She began singing both lead and background, in the junior choir at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, at the tender age of 9. She grew up listening to Blues, Jazz, R&B, Doo Wop and Motown. She sang it all. In her teens she solo, lead and seamlessly harmonized with various impromptu Doo Wop groups around the neighborhood also occasionally jamming with her neighbor (soul singer) Otis Clay. At 17 she''d joined a professional revue -as the female vocalist. They performed at the Booker T. Washington Center in Rockford IL, and occasionally at the Black Orchid and various clubs on the Southside of Chicago.

By age nineteen she''d retired, from music and moved to Florida where she married, brought a home, had a large family and resided for 15 years. After 13 years of marriage she left the marriage. She moved her children to Chicago and filed for a Divorce. Within 3 years she’d slowly returned to what she loved most, singing, but as a single parent she was forced to retired twice in order to raise her children.

With an empty nest she returned to the stage in 1993 the Gloria Thompson Rodgers Blues Band, one of the busiest blues bands in Chicago. After 10 years of a tremendous workload, Thompson Rodgers slowed down and completed her college education. She graduated after having completed in-depth researches of the industry she loved so much- the music industry. Having tired of years of constant national and international travel, she needed a change. She’d spent 5 years working as an educator in the public school system. Thompson Rodgers began slowly emerged during the second half of 2008, rejuvenated and anxious to resume her career as a performer.

She’s an awesome live performer with shows not to be missed! Chicago welcomed her back with open arm. She’s back better than ever, reenergized, confident, has new music and different players. See her at the 26th Chicago Blues Fest On June 12th at the Front Porch Stage!
