Details:
These three timed meditation sessions, especially designed for walking, sitting and meditation preparation, feature The Heart Sutra Mantra beautifully chanted in Sanskrit by an ordained Buddhist Ngak-pa, accompanied by traditional Tibetan prayer bells, karatalas cymbals, and gongs.

This especially-designed music aids concentration by creating a calm environment, free from distractions and outside influences. Samma Sankappa has been designed to be of assistance to those who may experience drowsiness during their meditation practice — gongs and echo sticks help bring the meditator back to focusing on the breath if their mind begins to grow tired or wander. The cycling rhythms and chants continually restate the object of focus on the intention; to attain the perfection of wisdom.

Samma Sankappa takes its name from the ancient Pali language and means Right Intention, which is one of the principle steps of The Noble Eightfold Path, from the Magga-vibhanga Sutta taught by Buddha Shakyamuni – and of great importance to Buddhist practitioners.

The chant used in Samma Sankappa is the Prajñaparamita mantra – the mantra of the perfection of wisdom. It can be found in The Heart Sutra, which is a teaching on the nature of reality from the Buddha. It is basically an emptiness teaching and the mantra is the essence or pith of the wisdom that understands reality and liberates beings.

The mantra is written:
Om Gate Gate
Paragate
Parasamgate
Bodhi Svaha

Translated from the Sanskrit it means:
Gone, gone
Gone beyond
Gone completely beyond
Enlightenment!

The Heart Sutra Mantra is chanted Energi Music collaborator Ngak-pa Ozer Oorje — an ordained yogi of Tibetan Buddhism. Ngak-pa Ozer Oorje practices spiritual divination and healing music and works for His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. Ngak-pa Ozer Oorje has also performed khumi throat singing, as used in traditional Tibetan and Nepalese spiritual ceremonies, for this album. These vocals are accompanied by traditional Tibetan prayer bells, singing bowls, and gongs.

Samma Sankappa is ideal as a meditation timer – each track contains a Sati (mindfulness) bell at the beginning and the end. Especially designed for walking meditation, as well as sitting practice and meditation preparation, the tracks are designed in three version-lengths for individual meditation requirements – 10, 20 and 30 minutes - or you can play the whole album for an hour-long meditation session or whenever you need an aid to focus the mind.
