Details:
Formed in 1999, Real Love Diplomats is a band that truly defies all attempts at categorization. The combination of keyboards, guitars, and dramatic vocal presentation results in a unique sound once dubbed "Brit-pop reminiscent of late 80''s U.K. Brit-alternative" by an Orlando music publication. However, even this drawn-out description doesn''t accurately capture nor encompass their sound. Comprised of vocalist Michael Wagganer, guitarist Jason Plourde, drummer Jeff Estock, and bassist / keyboardist John Prestor, the Diplomats say they are simply a "rock band."

Drawing from a broad catalog of songs, Real Love Diplomats entered Phat Planet Recording Studio in 2001, and later that year released the ambitiously titled EP "For the Good of the Many." Produced by Mark Mason and Real Love Diplomats, the 7-track CD has received favorable reviews in music magazines such as Hinge, In Theory, Connections, Performing Artist, Orlando Weekly, and Axis Magazine. The first single, Ded Morotz, was added to rotation at Clear Channel Orlando''s #1 rated station, Real Radio 104.1 WTKS. The strength of "For the Good of the Many", coupled with the bands powerful and artistic stage presence, sets them apart from their peers.

Among other accolades, they have been nominated for Orlando''s Best Rock Band in the Orlando Music Awards and won an award for Best Vocals in the On-Line Rock Fest. They have appeared in the Axis Florida Music Festival, performed as the musical guests on Fox 35''s Good Morning Orlando, and Overtime TV, and appeared on the best stages in the Orlando area. After spending nearly a year in the writing process, 2005 finds the Diplomats recording a follow up full length, tentatively titled "The Unbroken Hour." Again produced by Mark Mason, the band has taken a new approach to recording for this venture. Instead of using studio tools to create the sounds they were looking for, they took the studio to the sound. Recording on location at sites such as the State Theater in Eustis Florida, "The Unbroken Hour" will sound big, live, and full of raw energy. As the record they have always wanted to make, it is a sort of homecoming for the band, and a jumping point for the future.
