Details:
The band Rollaway was created the moment Peden Young arrived in New York City. With the well worn "suitcase and guitar" in hand, he had come to join his long-time friend, Tim Roark, in the pursuit of a dream born years ago in the mountains of North Georgia. Growing up in Atlanta, these two spent their formative years playing music together in the comfort of Appalachian summers, entertaining friends at the fireside, by the piano, and occasionally squaring off in the basement - rival high school garage bands naturally. Carrying their guitars and musical ambition with them, friendship and music have been forged into rock ''n roll and a sound that offers rich glimpses of the South and the southern harmonies that inspired them. Drawing from a medley of influences, from country and folk to the darker, searching vocalism of alternative rock, Rollaway offers its listeners a chance to hear what evocative rock and roll should sound like. Yet, despite this shared background, Rollaway''s songs are imbued with a sense of the personal and individual, and suggest a constant, evolving journey that draws upon distinct experiences.

In the fall of 1995, Peden headed off to Northwestern University in Chicago to study film. While there, he fronted a trio called "Up The Creek With Eddies Gang" that enjoyed a storied career on the Northwestern party circuit. He then headed west, moving to LA to work on such films as The Legend of Bagger Vance and The Mummy Returns. While continuing to write songs, he focused his attention on honing his skills as a film editor and on developing a number of film related projects.

Meanwhile, Tim left Atlanta and headed to Ohio to attend Oberlin Conservatory. There, Tim spent countless hours composing music, studying the French Horn, and hanging out in endless cornfields. Tim also fronted a couple of bands called "Sweet Water Mesa" and "The Unseen Exit Machine" (for which he named his first solo album).

It was during this time that Tim met Seth, Moppa, and Dave who would become the rhythm section of Rollaway. After leaving the Midwest all four of them migrated east to New York City to seek fortune and glory in the vaguest terms possible, eventually finding each other, each with a little bit of experience under the belt. Tim spent the next two years working in a record store, writing, and playing in various bars and clubs in New York''s East Village.

In the summer of 2002 Peden decided to join Tim''s band for a summer of making music as a group called "The Iberian 6." Going back to their roots, they spent 3 weeks in a cabin in Scaley Mountain, GA, writing, recording, and performing around the Southeast. They both felt strongly that this was the beginning of something. However, due to previous commitments, Rollaway would still not be realized for another year.

Finally in May of 2003 Peden moved to New York, and Rollaway was officially born. They immediately embarked on a small, two-week tour through familiar territory - New York, North Carolina, and Georgia - to kick off what''s bound to be a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration. They spent the following summer making their self-titled debut album and are now performing on a regular basis in and around the New York area.
