Details:
Ajiz The Young Lion and DL3 are ELEAVATE MUSIC. Two young men committed to extending the concept of elevation to hip hop music. Their Journey began in 1996 when they met at Buxton School, a small boarding school in Williamstown Massachusetts. They hit it off as best friends immediately, as they found they both shared a passion for making music, hip hop music being their weapon of choice. The chemistry of ELEVATE MUSIC was almost immediate, and shone bright at every opportunity they got from Creative Writing sessions held by the headmaster on Tuesday evenings, to impromptu freestyle sessions, to the performance art exhibitions hosted by students and faculty 2-3 times annually on the schools grounds.

Once they both graduated from Buxton two years apart from each other, it was not until 2003 that they would reunite musically for a show at Hampshire College also in Massachusetts, where they performed for hundreds of students with nearly no rehearsal time, and no real set songs to perform. Again it was clear, ELEVATE MUSIC was an incomparable force that could not be stopped. It was natural, like a bond between two brothers not yet actualized.
Once they both completed their collegiate educations @ S.U.N.Y Geneseo and Hampshire College respectively, Ajiz moved to Richmond Virginia to work with another hip hop collaborative called W.E.B.E.I. Putting out two independent records in their own right, they achieved great local success. However, Ajiz felt the need to pursue his true passion, his partnership with DL3, ELEVATE MUSIC. Hence the premise for their 1st release “Get on the 95 !” where there are several interludes with voicemails left on DL3’s phone urging him to follow the instructions of the album title, and come to Richmond V.A. to carry out their vision. Shortly there after DL3 quickly obliged and quit his job with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, loaded up his belongings on a U-Haul, kissed his family good bye, and relocated to Richmond, making their vision a reality. Immediately upon their arrival, their presence was felt not only in their inner circles, but in the circles of independent artists of all kind in the local area of Richmond V.A. They performed at every local venue frequently, in an attempt to promote their first release in 2006 “GET ON THE 95-ITS NOT A MIXTAPE”. It received critical acclaim from fans and received a write up in WADI Magazine, a local Richmond periodical. Their next project in 2007 “WE DON’T MAKE MUSIC” expanded the concept of their vision making it clear that they were not concerned with following the status quo of just making music, their focus was to ELEVATE MUSIC.

A year later, in 2008 ELEVATE MUSIC continued to perform all over Richmond V.A, briefly with their 8 piece band collaborative of the same title. Their current mission in 2009 is to embark on their most extensive creative and promotional campaign yet to bring “Broke City” to the world. “Broke City” is their most focused, and concept driven Elevate Music record to date. “Broke City” not only addresses the political and financial concerns being faced in the Crisis that followed the sub prime mortgage bust, but it goes on to describe the psyche of two young men straddling the lines between the middle and lower class, aspiring to rise above their financial situation to experience true happiness and prosperity. Live, ELEVATE MUSIC is a true sight to be seen. Their chemistry and innate ability to reflect and compliment each other’s passion and energy make for a riveting live experience. Lyrically, and musically ELEVATE MUSIC evoke thoughtful, intelligent, and poignant imagery truly unique and original to Hip Hop music. With Ajiz being a native Jamaican, and DL3 of Puerto Rican descent, their music has a Caribbean flavor that adds another dimension to an already dynamic range of https://www.tradebit.comh the billion-dollar industry that music has created for itself throughout its history, it might be difficult to conceive that Music is not just a form of entertainment. However for those Men and Women who are the very lifeline of its existence, this is not only fact, it is the premise by which they live their lives. Although Hip Hop artists today may seem just as much at odds with each other, as they are with those who look to destroy it, none of them would deny that they are all fighting for the same purpose. To ELEVATE themselves and their people beyond all that looks to diminish their relevance to this world. ELEVATE MUSIC, thru its extended families which originate in New York City, but stretch down to Richmond VA and beyond, represent for all area crew, men and women who truly live Hip Hop culture. ELEVATE MUSIC embodies all that is Hip Hop, yet continues to define its own movement. ELEVATE MUSIC stands for integrity, strength, and wisdom. In doing so, Ajiz The Young Lion and DL3 celebrate the beauty of Hip Hop culture, and ELEVATE those who dare to come along for the ride.
