Nashville based band The Good Side brings a straight forward rock n'' roll sound with a soulful touch and vibrant energy. With influences ranging from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Pearl Jam, The Black Crowes to Prince, and Foo Fighters to Matchbox 20, The Good Side has built their following through their dynamic live shows around the Southeast.
With all members growing up in the area of Sumner County, TN, the band was formed by long-lasting friendships and family connections. Kyle Blankenship(lead vocals & guitar) is the nephew of drummer and back up vocalist Kevin "Red" Blankenship. Growing watching up watching grunge and early hip-hop influenced Red play, Kyle first learned of his interest in rock n'' roll. Likewise, Tyler Bandy(guitar & back up vocals) and Caleb Dorris(bass guitar) were also influenced by seeing older relatives and siblings play music. Kyle and Tyler began playing and writing songs together in late 2000, and continued to do so over the coming years. A year after graduating from high school, while Tyler attended college, Kyle started jamming for fun with his uncle, Red. It grew into something great, and with other members the group played shows together over the next 2 years. In 2006, after fumbling through line-ups, the Blankenships decided to take some time off. After a 2 year break, Kyle and Red were approached about playing a show in their hometown. Tyler, who had recently moved back to town, had already begun talking to Kyle about playing together again. Both had been writing on their own, but the songs that they had written together had always proven to be the best. In need of only a bass player, the trio turned to Caleb Dorris, the nephew of their former bassist. Caleb had always been a fan of their previous work, and immediately agreed to sign on.
This line-up, under the name The Good Side, began writing songs and hit the stage in the summer of 2008. By the end of the year, the band, paired with producer Chet Roberts, was recording their first EP, "Walk on the Moon". Recorded at Rivergate Studios(owned by Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down and Bobby Capps of 38 Special)in Hendersonville, TN, "Walk on the Moon" was brought to life with the most professional environment, equipment, and personnel. The EP was released in February of 2009.
The band has since played some of Nashville''s premier live music venues such as Exit/In and 12th & Porter, along with doing a number of shows with fellow Nashville band, Framing Hanley. The Good Side is alway looking to expand out and play new places, and continues to tour around the Southeast, bringing their fun and exciting live shows through every town on the way.
