I would like to begin by personally thanking everyone who purchased or downloaded songs off my solo CD “Acoustic Serenity”. It is a great feeling to have people appreciate what I have done as a musician, and to know that my music is being played around the world.
After the completion of “Acoustic Serenity”, my next musical step was nothing less than a huge question mark. Then I was approached by a friend of mine, John Nonnemacher, who asked me to put music to some lyrics he had written. Little did I know that the song would eventually bring another talented song -writer and vocalist into our equation.
Richard Lutz was a guitarist I had performed with years ago in a church folk group. Even then, I had admired Rich as a musician and how he could incorporate different rhythm styles in his playing. Within a few weeks, we had completed “Power of Forgiveness”, and that was when Rich & I decided we would continue working on a CD of our own. We have been writing & arranging songs for about a year, and I must say, Rich is one of the most talented song writers I have ever worked with. Along with his creative ideas & styles, Rich is an amazing lead vocalist, and together our voices blend to create something that we are very proud of.
With the help of two other extremely talented musicians; Matt Magasko , who orchestrated “Faithful”, and Greg Sunder’s violin solo on “Angel’s Lullaby”, helped to raise this CD to another level. They are truly gifted individuals , and I feel very fortunate to have them as friends. Speaking of gifted friends, here is the musical journey of Richard Lutz.
Musical Bio – Richard Lutz
I began my interest in music by watching my dad & brother play guitar. Those early days planted the seed of my creative gift. Over a period of a few years, I taught myself enough to play and get by and slowly learned a few chords and notes. In high school I joined up with high school friends, Danny Balon & John Mensinger and began writing secular songs. My main influences were The Beatles and Jethro Tull, for the most part.
After joining forces with Danny and John, we formed a group and named it Trajan. We wrote and recorded 30 songs and over a two year period, recorded them at WVIA public radio studio. They later aired on the station Home Grown music segment.
After graduating from high school I gave my life to Christ and began writing gospel music. In 1982 I joined the Aman prayer group and began leading worship in song. Soon after that, I formed a group called Spiritwind and we were given the opportunity to lead worship at the next 3 National Charismatic Conferences in Scranton, PA. Thirty-five hundred people attended on average every year. These events helped cultivate the desire for live audience interaction.
In 1986, 1987 and 1988 Spiritwind recorded three musical projects. “Power from on High”, The Second Coming” and “Now I am Free”. In 1989 Spritwind disbanded and I began a musical journey in writing, recording and live performances as a solo performer. To date I have recorded over 20 projects with a musical career which spans nearly thirty years.
