At his young age of twenty-two years old Ilan has already performed in the most prestigious band stands in the world such as the Blue Note in New York, Yoshis, Kuumbwa, and The Jazz Bakery in California, Berklee Performance Center in Boston, Dazzle jazz club In Denver, Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis, the Blue Lamp, Jazz Bar in Scotland, Jerusalem Theatre in Israel, Zocalo, Teatro de la ciudad, Zinco Jazz Club in Mexico just to name a few Sharing the Band stand with top of the line musicians such as Antonio Sanchez, Cindy Blackman, Tim Ries and the Rolling Stones project, Paquito de Rivera, Arnie Lawrence, Charnett Moffett, Oscar Stagnaro, Steve Turre, Andre Hayward, Jay Rodriguez, Matt Wilson, Dan Higgins, Ralph Peterson, Ximena Sarinana, Roland Guerin, Magos Herrera, Chamin Correa, Iraida Noriega and many more.
Ilan fist picked up the guitar at the age of 14, he was 15 when he got accepted to the high school academy of music and dance in Jerusalem and when he turned 16 he started his professional career touring Israel with saxophonist Arnie Lawrence playing jazz, Israeli and Arabic music. During his High-School years he led his own band performing in the Jerusalem Festival Of Arts and lots of other shows and festivals around Israel. Ilan had the privilege to take part in many memorial days and government ceremonies getting more that a dozen recognition letters and awards for his musicianship. After finishing high school he moved back to his birthplace México City.
In México he became one of the most in demand guitarist in the country, Playing approx. 180 nights a year with the biggest names in the music industry such as Grammy Nominated artist Ximena Sarinana, Iraida Noriega, Magos Herrera, Antonio Sanchez, Chamin Correa, Diego Maroto, Rey David Alejandre, Zinco Big Band just to name a few, and also had the opportunity to perform with internationally acclaimed jazz musicians such as Tim Ries, Charrnett Moffet, Steve Turre, Jay Rodriguez, Roland Guerin. He was featured in many prime TV Shows and radio programs. After two years of great success in Mexico he moved to Boston to study at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music.
In Berklee he studied/performed with Mick Goodrick, Dave Fiuzinski, David Guilmore, Tim Miller, Hal Crook, Ralph Peterson, George Garzone, Jamey Haddad and Darren Barret. Ilan performs every week at the legendary Wally’s jazz café and became the one of the busiest guitarist in the area, playing in the bands of the next generation cats such as Matan Chapnizka, Godwin Louis, Jesse Scheinin, Jeff Fajardo, Victor Gould, Dan Carpel, Julian Shore, Jonathan Greenstein to name a few.
